Dune management provides methods of managing dunes where natural processes are no longer able to for instance coastal access where dune sand poses a threat to public and private property.
Many coastal areas in the Western Cape are facing on-going challenges with coastal processes in particular the stabilisation and management of dunes along our beaches. Since sand moves it needs to be kept close to its natural process. It may be that the dune sand starts to move inland away from its natural coastal processes which could pose a threat to public and commercial properties.
